Podcasts and Learning

Can we learn through Podcasts? I pose this question while I sit on the Light Rail traveling to campus. The world is becoming increasingly mobile and learning seems to be keeping in stride with the trend. I typing this blog post on my phone. My neighbor is also writing what appears to be an email and another neighbor is watching a video. Everyone has in headphones. While it’s true many of them are probably listening to music, I would guess at least a few are listening to podcasts. 

 

On-the-go learning is an amazing concept. Whether it’s a Ted Talk, Radio Lab, historical mystery, political opinions or lecture, most podcasts offer a learning opportunity. I am intrigued by this idea and the impact it has for my role. How many learners in an organization would benefit from this type of access to learn on the go? I am curious how many Instructional 

 

Designers utilize micro-learning in their work and if it is having an impact. Is audio effective? Is video more or equally effective? If you know please comment!
